I would go with EK. You are sure the contractor is going to do it right the first time. Other boilers can be purchased by anyone with an account at the local supply house. No training needed. EK, on the other hand, sells directly to its dealers. The dealers must be trained in order to become dealers. A company that makes that commitment to training is more likely to do it right the first time... and to stand behind both the product warranty and their own workmanship.
We had an EK1 installed this fall and have been really impressed. While we've ordered less oil this season compared to last year, that's not the biggest thing I've noticed about the boiler. This boiler made me realize how much energy radiated from our old system. We have a 500 sq/ft finished basement that we haven't turned the electric baseboard heat on since we bought the house. This season it's been freezing down there even though temps have been milder. This made me realize the heat loss from the boiler was actually heating the basement! Such a waste. The EK1 is actually cold to the touch while running, no loss there. Love this system.
I just wanted to thank you for all the great engineering you've put into your products and for all the improvements you've made to the systems over the years. Our new System 2000 Frontier was installed earlier this week. It's running great and looks like a shiny new Cadillac compared to the old Oldsmobile. No one can predict how long the boiler will last in our home, but if it's anywhere close to how long the last System 2000 lasted we'll be thrilled!
I want to thank you for supplying an outstanding product. Our home is only 10 years old, but had been designed in a way that required
the boiler room be located under the master bedroom. The original oil fired boiler was quite loud, and though we had invested in sound proofing
technology, it was still affecting our sleep. Your system, along with all the other benefits, is remarkable in how quiet
it is. We can hardly hear it when standing next to it, and can hear nothing when in the room above.
This has been our best investment! Paid for itself in 2 years! Love our System 2000!!! We had inherited a rusty old cast iron, direct heat oil furnace with no hot water heater when we bought our home. Firing it up every time we needed hot water and its frequent servicing cost us a ton of money on oil our first year. The following year we installed the System 2000 model. Immediately, we saw big savings, as our oil consumption decreased enormously. It paid for itself in 2 years. In addition, it has performed flawlessly for 5 years now. Great product!
Have had my System 2000 for 1.5 years. I used to have an electric water heater but converted when I purchased this system. Just like many others, my electric & oil bills have been reduced by half. Plus, this is so quiet compared to my old boiler. No disappointments. Thank you!
We have had the System 2000 for over 10 years, maybe 20, can't remember for sure. It has saved us a pile of money...love the thing, would recommend it to anyone
My favorite story is my oil company calling and asking how much oil I still had as the two previous deliveries only netted the 151 gallons and they didn't want to do it again. Saving more than half our normal usage. Thank you!
Great system! Paid for itself in 3 years! No more issues with hot water running out, best investment I ever made! I now save more than 50% to heat my home.
This is a short note to tell you how happy I am with my System 2000 Oil Burner that was installed in …….. As you know my old burner was very noisy when it was running, this new burner is so so quiet. There is no popping when it comes on or roar during its operation like the old one.
The most important fact is the savings in oil costs. Last year just before the System 2000 burner was installed, I prepaid my fuel bill for an estimated amount of oil I thought I would use during the 2005/2006 winter, this was based on past usage. The good news is that to date, my account still has a cash balance and I have not had to write a check for additional fuel. The key I think is that the burner only runs when the system calls for heat.
Thanks again for recommending the System 2000.
Nowadays everyone is always complaining about something and I thought I would NOT, and drop you a quick note.
It’s been almost one year since you installed the System 2000 in our home. I would guess we are saving at least two tanks of oil a year. At today’s prices that is a lot of money. The system will actually pay for itself in five years. It is so quiet I love it. I also love the endless hot water! Just a great system that runs efficiently and quietly.
Just a quick note to update you on how well my System 2000 is performing since you installed it...The first thing I want to mention is the efficiency of the unit even though we added an additional heating zone in the basement of the house. Basing my use on an annual basis and considering that our entire family was at the house for Thanksgiving and again for 10 days for Christmas and New Years this year, we are experiencing a 26.7% decrease in oil consumption over the same period last year.
Another great feature is the hot water system of the System 2000. With 10 people there and wanting showers, the extra clothes washing, extra dish washing, etc. the system provided limitless hot water without compromise. Oh, and the system truly is “whisper quiet”...I kept having to listen to see if it was running!!
I fully expect that under normal operational loads, and with that basement zone functional, that I can expect to conservatively see savings closer to 35% over the old system.
All this and the responsive and professional service of...Truly a win/win success story.
Everybody in our family has nothing but praise for the System 2000, and I’m convinced that it is the best system any money could buy. To the people of Energy Kinetics thank you, for the development and manufacture of a truly unique and efficient heating system in the System 2000.
Thank you for installing our System 2000 Frontier Boiler. I can’t believe how short of time this boiler runs, compared to our old system. We know there is a big savings on oil consumption. Also runs much quieter than the old one. We have plenty of hot water and the house is always warm. I like the Digital Manager very much. It shows what zone is on, temperature and etc. What a great idea. I feel the investment we made was a good one.
We have installed the System 2000 boiler in our water treatment plant and have seen the fuel consumption cut in half. We also installed two System 2000 boilers in teacher housing (replacing cast iron boilers) and have also seen the same results half the fuel use and we even have an additional building added on to the system and they have also been maintenance free other than routine stuff. I highly recommend these systems throughout the school district, they made a huge difference in our community.
You have one happy customer. My new System 2000 is the best thing since sliced bread.
It is very efficient. It has been using far less fuel than my old boiler and I cannot argue with that. A lower fuel bill is just fine with me.
It is quiet. I find myself opening the cellar door listening for it...I am so glad to have a unit that works like it should!
After installing the system 2000 we noticed a dramatic decrease in our fuel usage. We used to go through over 900 gallons per year, now we can count on 550 - 600.
I purchased a System 2000 about 5-6 years ago. I was told I would burn less fuel, have more hot water and less maintenance. I am happy to say the fuel bill is lower. Other than the annual service there have been no service calls. As far as hot water I have had 14 people stay at the house and between showers, laundry and dishes being done never ran out of hot water.
It has been more than a month now since the installation of our new heating system and we couldn't be more satisfied to this point. The continuous flow of ""hot water"" is amazing, especially after eighteen years of squeezing a minor amount of water and trying to take a shower in two minutes or less. The first time my wife Judy used the new system she said it felt like being at the ""Sheraton"". And I don't have to stop the dishwasher, or washing machine in order to shower, that's great.
And like you said, I have on occasion gone to the heater to look and make certain that it's running because it is so quiet. Unlike our old boiler that was not only noisy but rumbled and was inefficient.
So far everything is on the money, and I am sure we will save money on oil usage, and with the prices going up all the time we are glad we made the change to the System 2000.
I would like to note that the gentlemen that installed the unit, and removed the old one, did a great job, from start to finish. They explained everything they did, cleaned up behind themselves, and were very polite and kind.
When we had electric heat we were very uncomfortable with cold rooms and inconsistent temperatures throughout our home. The System 2000 is everything you claimed and more, we couldn’t be more pleased.
I imagine you don't find many customers happy to pay a $638 oil bill, but I am happy to do so. Like everyone else, I'd rather see oil back to the buck a gallon of a couple decades ago, but since I have no control over that, I want to pay as little as possible.
I did the check of degree days since my last fill-up and compared oil use for the period to what my old oil burner would have used. For the same amount of heat, I'd have to be sending you $1020.00.
Going back over the season, from a fill up of 13 months ago, I saved 271 gallons with the System 2000 oil burner as compared to the older inefficient oil boiler.
The folks at Energy Kinetics have saved me a bundle of money, enough to more than pay for the system itself every year. It is working as well as the day it was installed and is helping my bank account.
I want to express my gratitude to you and your company regarding my Energy Kinetics boiler. ..installed our new boiler in the Fall of 2008 in the basement of my ranch style house in Hillsborough, NJ. We have seen a large reduction in our oil consumption as a result of the new unit and its efficiency.
I was interested in the oil usage through the summer to heat our water. So, we did a test. I topped off the oil tank in May and just today topped off our tank again. We used a total of 33 gallons in 5 months for hot water. That is about 6 gallons a month! WOW! I am truly impressed!
You have a very happy customer!
Again, thank you for your product and the savings it provides to my household budget.
I have to say the System 2000 has made this old, quirky and in many other ways rather inefficient home consistently comfortable. When the old boiler (the Beast) would kick in it sounded (and felt) like an old Steamship rumbling out to sea. The System 2000, for all intents and purposes is silent, and delivers very stable, consistent, reliable and mellow warmth. Even in the 2 intense cold snaps we've had so far this season the boiler has been noticeably modest in its oil consumption.
We recently received an oil delivery in the same period of time as last year and we went from 415 gallons to 215 gallons. Yes, I am highly satisfied with Energy Kinetics’ System 2000 it gives both zones of our house even heat and also provides us with a $40.00 savings on our monthly electric bills. Because of all of these factors I am very pleased to be able to recommend this system for you and your home.
Last year, after 37 years of service it was time to replace my oil burner. Being a comparative buyer, I received quotes from five different heating oil distributors. In total I researched seven different systems. I reviewed the literature; I searched the internet for information on each product and computed return on investment analysis. Your company, ……, quoted two different systems. The proposal on the System 2000 bragged about a potential 40% savings. Using $2.579 a gallon as a basis, I ""worked the numbers"" and concluded the difference in price would be returned in seven years.
Well the first year has passed and your ads claiming a 40% saving appear to be wrong.
Attached is my work sheet that clearly displays that in fact my savings were really 46%.
For the two years prior to the purchase of the System 2000 my average gallons per year
was 740 gallons. This first year of usage amounted to 400.1 gallons or a 46% savings.
If I could just do that with my car!
The installation experience was awesome. It took a few days, soldering joints, installing additional tubing, etc., but the men that did the job were professional and when they were done, there was no sign that a major installation had occurred.
Thank you … and … for introducing me to this super ""green"" heater. The ""System 2000"" proved to be everything you said it would be. It is very quiet, produces an unlimited amount of hot water, burns extremely clean, and has made it possible for me to deal with the rising cost of energy.
I would like to take a moment to tell you about the experience I've had with my System 2000 heating system.
Seventeen years ago I began researching heating systems for the house I was designing and going to build in Vermont. I was from the Maryland/Washington, DC area and knew I was headed for more severe winters there. I was interested in energy efficiency and was going to design some super insulation techniques into my home. One of the heating systems I came upon was the System 2000. As I got several contractors to give me estimates on their systems they all put down the System 2000. The heating system was going to have to heat a 4,000 square foot home with over 50 windows, some of them large windows. The contractors said the system was too small for my sized house and that the steel boiler would never last as long as a cast iron boiler.
For some reason, I was not convinced by these contractors. So I continued to research the System 2000 heating system and the company.
Well it’s been sixteen years and I have not been disappointed in my choice. Zero problems with the System 2000. That first year I only spent about a thousand dollars for heating the house and the domestic hot water. That was with outside temperatures that sometimes got down to 20-30 degrees below zero. Now remember, I used some special insulating techniques and I hand fitted the insulation myself. The vapor/air barrier was completely sealed around windows, doors and all exterior wall electrical switches and receptacles. Because the house was so tight I added a whole house heat exchange ventilation system in order to have controlled fresh air from the outside.
I have never felt the heating system has had to overwork to keep up with the job of heating the house. In addition, I’ve added an apartment with another fifteen hundred square feet. The same System 2000 now supplies hot water for a heat exchanger in the attic that uses forced air to heat the third floor apartment. The original System 2000 now heats about 5,500 square feet of living space and does it easily.
Without hesitation, I would highly recommend the System 2000 to anyone considering it as a heating system for their house.
"I am writing to tell you how pleased my wife and I are with the System 2000 heating system by Energy Kinetics that you installed this past fall. It has been a great replacement for our old burner, which lasted nearly 30 years.
The System 2000 furnace, boiler and hot water heater was the real surprise. For the 2006 season, the System 2000 saved 406.6 gallons of heating oil over the average yearly consumption of 1045 gallon/season for the years 1998 through 2005 for the old furnace. The 38.9% saving is remarkable considering the 406.6 gallon savings at the current price of $2.599/gallon translates into a yearly savings of $1056.75! And oil prices are expected to rise. At this rate, the System 2000 will pay for itself in 5 years or less.
It runs cleaner, quieter and more efficiently than my old boiler.
We purchased our System 2000 in March. What a huge difference it has made. First of all, the system is about one fourth the size of our old “crypt” system. Now that it is in, we have what seems like a constant flow of hot water (our ten year old likes long showers). The water also seems to flow at a much stronger rate than the old system. Additionally, we no longer feel or even hear the heat and hot water system shaking the house as they turn on and off. It has taken some time to get used to not hearing the system from our living room. We no longer have to adjust the television sound when the heat turns on.
I recently completed the installation of a System 2000 energy converter in my home. I have also piped an additional plate exchanger to heat my hot tub. Now, instead of waiting over five hours for the tub to heat up, it takes only about an hour to reach temperature! In the first couple of weeks of operation, we cut our electric bill by $100.00 and at that point the tub was still hooked to electric! You truly have a unique, well designed product that lives up to its claims!
Thanks, this system is amazingly quiet. Anyone with an oil fired system should be begging for this boiler in their home!
Buying a furnace isn’t something that one looks forward to doing. But, I must say that this System 2000 that we now have is truly a great experience. I worked for IBM for 15 years in Engineering and I truly can say that these units are the TOP OF THE LINE! Without a doubt “The System 2000 is the Cadillac of Heating Systems”.
I installed a Frontier EK-1 and I absolutely love it. We live in a small house and don’t have a lot of floor space to give. The Stackable Front Clean Boiler and Water Heater (under) works perfectly.
It has been 13 months since we had our Energy Kinetics EK-1 boiler and external hot water tank installed in my 4 bedroom, 2 bath, 1800 square feet home. The previous boiler was a 37 year old ..... that functioned adequately to heat the home, but failed to provide sufficient hot water to take a bath or run both showers simultaneously. Furthermore, it was not very efficient with its heating oil consumption, and made noticeable noise even in the middle of summer.
Our air quality is incredibly cleaner with our new System 2000. Over the past year we have been tracking how much money we are saving with our new A/C, Heating and water heater. The investment up front is paying off! We love our new System 2000 – it is efficient, quiet and gets the job done!
I had your System 2000 boiler and hot water system installed in my house last October and couldn't be happier with it. I was told I'd save money and when I ran the numbers over the previous season, I saved about $1,500.00. Great system and extremely quiet and nice looking.
The product has always been excellent; I've been installing System 2000 since 1980!
I received a quote and the system was installed last week... and we are delighted with it!
On this first anniversary of my System 2000, I want to formally thank you for an excellent design and a great installation. Our hope has been realized: The System 2000 high efficiency provides domestic hot water and pool heating with no increase in fuel!
We installed a System 2000 EK-1 with 40 gallon hot water heater. We had an old hot water boiler that had been nursed along each year! They kept asking when we were going to replace that relic. Well it seemed to be working OK so we procrastinated for about 10 years. Finally this past fall [our service company] came to clean out our aging furnace and showed me the new System 2000 system and after his fine presentation we decided that we could actually save money by putting in this system.
Enclosed are the pictures of my new System 2000. I just love it. You can't even hear it run. Thank you so much!
The year of the installation I used 1018.7 gallons and the year following I used 549.4 gallons, a big savings of 469.3 gallons in that time span. It was a great investment and a really big savings on oil, I am glad I had one installed especially with oil prices today.
We had a 2000 Heating System installed in my home in July of this year.
It is the best investment I made for my home. It is very quiet with excellent heat. It is using less oil and giving more heat. I recommend it highly as an excellent heating system.
